Hypnotherapy is like having that lovely relaxed feeling experienced when you are between the state of sleep and awake.  It is a very normal and safe alternative state of consciousness – when in this deep state of relaxation your subconscious becomes more receptive to suggestion allowing you to absorb the positive statements given at a much deeper level.  These statements will create a change in behavioural habits, anxieties or whatever issue you seek to resolve. It is a totally natural process, with no magic or supernatural intervention.  This is a therapy that uses both your conscious and subconscious mind to assist you in making the positive changes you so desire.

There are many forms of talking therapies however hypnotherapy is unique in that it attempts to access the subconscious mind using deep relaxation to remove the conscious blocks.  The client is at all times in full control but is invited and encouraged by the therapist to engage in the use of their powerful imagination to help promote the change and healing the client seeks to achieve.

A key part of hypnotherapy is to focus your attention internally which enables the process to be completely goal orientated and assisting the client in recreating new patterns and behaviours all with a positive end.  The therapist and client continually work together.

Whilst under hypnosis it is possible for the therapist to use a variety of analytical techniques. This analysis is used to help client’s recall of memories held deep within their subconscious mind that may be proving to be resistant to conscious recall.  This process may be required to deal with recent events or memories as far back as childhood.  It must be stressed that if a client is not ready to deal with these hidden thoughts, their powerful subconscious mind can stop the recall from happening so as stated previously; the client maintains control at all times.
